About the Artist - John Lyes

Emerging as a graphic artist and born from an artistic background, John has taken to new forms of abstract and continues to pull resources from inspiring masters painting works on canvas, paper and board.

Formerly a resident of Atlanta, Richmond VA and Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was at home in the gallery and arts scene, John came back to Canada and took up creating the art that reflects the nature and scenic wonder of this beautiful province. With a graphic arts background his main subjects have always been mid-century modern, unique abstraction and varying degrees of pop culture. Currently his brush has settled on the outdoors with the preferred style of abstract impressionism.

Member of Federation of Canadian Artists.

Wood Artisans

Cezar Salaveria
I migrated to Canada form the Philippines in 2010 and has since been working as an artisan for a design and fabrication company based in Delta.
My earlier experience in the theatre led me to a life-long passion for the arts. After graduating from school, I picked up a film camera and started doing short films and music videos which eventually ushered me to work in the film industry and commercial advertising that lasted for 20 years. Since moving to Vancouver, I’ve always wanted to work with my hands creating objects and sculptural furniture, transferring visual images into tactile pieces.  A love affair with natural materials like wood, metal and leather started, creating one-of-a-kind furniture and lighting pieces. In 2020, I established Grit Studio - a combination of my furniture creations, an art gallery and a cafe. It has since become a creative hub in the city of Port Moody, connecting and engaging the community through the arts.

Bob Gonzales
Bob Gonzales is a local Langley artist. He is a self-taught master woodturner, wood craft artist and sculpture creator. His work has gone all over the world through his connections at artisan shows and the fabulous Pendulum Gallery in Vancouver, BC.

Since COVID, he has concentrated on target marketing his work and is presently working on laser cut pieces mounted on wood. The horse people will be ecstatic. Wildlife enthusiasts are finally getting something different. The wine world will be toasting his wood art. At 83, every day, he is still working in his shop and creating beauty.
