MAINTENANCE WORKER - UTILITIES

We are seeking an individual to carry out work related to the installation, maintenance and servicing of municipal infrastructure, primarily concerned with utilities.

Reporting to and supporting the Public Works Foreman this position will be responsible for a variety of skilled duties including pipe laying, pipefitting, and using equipment such as backhoes and dump trucks. The incumbent must be proficient in the use of a variety of equipment and hand tools, and understand the importance of encouraging a safety culture within the workplace. Applicants must possess the physical stamina to work outdoors in all weather, have excellent interpersonal skills, and embrace our vision of maintaining and enhancing Pitt Meadows’ livability and natural beauty.

The successful candidate is required to have:

  • Grade 12 education supplemented by courses related to the work plus considerable experience as a truck driver in general maintenance and construction work, as well as experience related to installing, maintaining and servicing municipal infrastructure.
  • Unrestricted Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Endorsement for the Province of British Columbia
  • EOCP Waste Water Collection – Level 1
  • EOCP Water Distribution – Level 1.

This is a full time CUPE position with a salary of $30.89 per hour, plus benefits.

The hours of work for these positions will be mainly scheduled between Monday and Friday, but applicants must be willing to work overtime and/or participate in the standby rotation.
