ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Pitt Meadows is planning for exciting new initiatives including traffic and transportation improvements, execution of capital projects and municipal infrastructure development and replacement. To ensure we deliver exceptional results to our residents and other stakeholders we are recruiting for two talented individuals to join our engineering team. We are seeking dynamic individuals with team-oriented leadership styles, outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, project management capability and a broad range of experience.
Manager of Engineering and Facilities
Reporting to The Director of Engineering and Operations, this position will oversee and supervise a small team of professional and support staff to assist you in executing development and capital projects, including design and installation of municipal works and services, and annual and long term plans and budgets. Work will include oversight of multiple buildings and facilities and management of their related assets. This role also includes procurement and contract administration related to engineering and facility projects. You will have input into hiring and overseeing work performed by staff, and consultants, ensuring adherence to quality control standards.
Preferred candidates will possess a P.Eng designation in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)), and broad related experience, including five years of progressive supervisory responsibility either within a municipal setting or engineering firm with a project management focus.
Project Manager – Major Projects
Also reporting to the Director of Engineering and Operations, we are looking for a skilled individual to take the lead in managing major projects and programs related to strategic capital projects, and help guide infrastructure investments in the city. Key to success will be the ability to establish goals and objectives, in a fast paced and highly productive environment, ensuring work is completed on schedule and within budget expectations. Work will include overseeing the process of hiring consultants, carrying out the tendering process and monitoring day to day construction activities through to completion. You will be expected to oversee capital plans and operating budgets and to research and make recommendations for improvement in other relevant areas.
Preferred candidates will have university graduation in Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline or a technical diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute and at least four years of related professional project management experience for major infrastructure projects. Preference will be given to candidates with local government experience. Project Management Professional certification would be considered an asset.
