We are seeking a dynamic individual with outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, project management capability and a broad range of experience. Supporting the Engineering and Operations Department, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing, coordinating and overseeing work related to various municipal works, facilities and services.
Reporting to The Director of Engineering and Operations, this position will be responsible for coordinating budgeting, planning and oversight related to municipal owned buildings and facilities, capital works projects, and the scheduling and overseeing of design and installation of municipal works, infrastructure and services. You will have input into hiring and overseeing work performed by consultants, ensuring adherence to quality control standards, and be expected to recommend updates to policy and operating procedures and bylaws. You may be asked to prepare and present technical reports to Council and ensure work is carried out within Council’s vision for the community.
We are looking for someone with a team-oriented leadership style and strong relationship building qualities who is equally comfortable working with Operations and other departments, fielding inquiries from the public and developers, maintaining positive relationships with consultants and taking an active role on committees and task forces. He or she will also have demonstrated progressive experience in relevant areas of municipal government, or project management as well as effective administrative and technical skills.
The successful candidate will have a university degree in Engineering (Civil or Mechanical preferred) with three to five years of broad experience which includes demonstrated project management, and supervisory experience within a local government or engineering firm. Environmental knowledge, as well as municipal experience, would be considered an asset. You must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia.
