From May 1 to October 15, Stage 1 watering regulations are in effect.
Stage 1 residential lawn watering allowed:
- Even-numbered addresses: Saturday mornings
- Odd-numbered addresses: Sunday mornings
- Automatic watering: 5am to 7am
- Manual watering: 6am to 9am
Watering trees, shrubs, and flowers is permitted any day from 5am to 9am if using a sprinkler, or any time if hand watering or using drip irrigation. All hoses must have an automatic shut-off device.
Edible plants are exempt from regulations.
Stage 1 non-residential lawn watering allowed:
- Even-numbered addresses: Monday mornings
- Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesday mornings
- Automatic watering: 4am to 6am
- Manual watering: 6am to 9am
Watering trees, shrubs and flowers is permitted any day from 4am to 9am if using a sprinkler, or any time if hand watering or using drip irrigation. All hoses must have an automatic shut-off device.
Edible plants are exempt from regulations.
Water restrictions do not apply to the use of rainwater, grey water or any forms of recycled water.

Water restrictions are part of Metro Vancouver’s Drinking Water Conservation Plan, a regional policy developed with member jurisdictions and other stakeholders to manage the outdoor use of drinking water during periods of high demand, as well as during water shortages and emergencies. Lawn Sprinkling Permits
Watering restrictions apply to all properties but we do offer lawn sprinkling permits for newly seeded and newly laid turf lawns. A permit is required to sprinkler outside regular restricted hours. Permits are $50 and are valid for three weeks after date of purchase. One additional renewal permit is allowed for additional $50.
To apply for a permit or for more information, please call 604-465-2428 and leave your name, phone number and address. The $50 permit fee can be mailed in or put in the secured drop box at the main doors of City Hall.
