A building permit is required for any changes, alterations or additions to a structure. 

Apply for Building Permits at City Hall.  Depending on the complexity of the application, initial plan check takes approximately four to six weeks for a single family dwelling and six to eight weeks for a commercial, industrial and muti-family buildings.   After a building permit is issued, several site inspections are required prior to final approval and the issuance of an occupancy permit. Permit fees vary according to the cost of construction.
