PITT MEADOWS, BC – On Tuesday, October 4, 2022, the City provided an update on the construction of the new Pitt Meadows Fire Hall and celebrated the building’s construction milestones, features, and more. Watch the video here.

“On behalf of City Council, this is truly a Pitt Meadows Proud™ moment to see the progress of the construction for the new Fire Hall,” says Mayor Bill Dingwall. “This new state of the art facility will provide a much improved and healthy work environment, important training facilities, as well as a modern Emergency Operations Centre that will enhance communications and services during emergencies in our region.”

The City is in the process of replacing its Fire Hall, and is in the final stages of construction of a new three-storey, 25,000 square-foot post-disaster rated facility which includes a four-storey hose tower, four tandem bays, and has space to meet the needs of the community for decades to come.

“It’s exciting to see the considerable progress on our new Fire Hall,” says Fire Chief Mike Larsson. “It will provide our members with the facilities to operate in a safe manner, conduct important training, and deliver the best level of service for our community.”

Construction began on the new Pitt Meadows Fire Hall in spring 2021 and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2022 or early 2023.

“This new Fire Hall is an important and much-needed capital project for our city that will help enhance safety,” says Chief Administrative Officer Mark Roberts. “We look forward to welcoming our firefighters, Emergency Operations Centre staff, and the community to the new Fire Hall when construction is complete.”

This update was an opportunity to celebrate the incredible work and contributions to this project from City Council, staff, and construction partners with the official unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the centre of the ceremony with the names of key individuals who helped see this project to this stage.

Information about the New Fire Hall Replacement Project will continue to be shared with the community on the City’s website and social media channels. For more information, please visit pittmeadows.ca/newfirehall.
