PITT MEADOWS, BC – The City’s annual Pitt Meadows Day and Canada Day events, and the first-ever Pride Concert, received high attendance and positive feedback thanks to the help of sponsors, staff and volunteers.

“We are grateful to be able to return to two staple and beloved annual City events, while adding a third event, with all three receiving rave reviews,” says Mayor Bill Dingwall. “Thank you to the participants, supporters, volunteers, performers and sponsors who contributed to these three great events.”

More than 15,000 people were at Pitt Meadows Day, 600 at the Pride Concert, and 2,000 at Canada Day. Feedback from the attendees, staff, volunteers and committees was resoundingly positive, with calls for growth and to make the Pride Concert an annual event to celebrate the LGBTQ2IA+ community.

“New events that supported inclusivity were a priority for the Parks, Recreation and Culture department,” says Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture, Diane Chamberlain. “We are very excited to see the positive response our Pride Concert received, including many requests for it to come back next year.”

Pitt Meadows Day was generously supported by 30 sponsors providing various amounts of in-kind and cash donations, including Diamond-level sponsorships from Onni Group and Amazon. A remainder of approximately $20,000 in funding will be used for next year’s event.
