PITT MEADOWS, BC – The City’s Spray Park at Harris Road Park is opening Thursday, June 18 and will remain open until September, weather permitting. The Spray Park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“With warmer weather in the forecast, the City is excited to be opening the Spray Park,” says Mayor Bill Dingwall. “We know that playing outside is good for our children. The City is following updated COVID-19 recommendations from the Province. Parents and guardians are reminded to physically distance, and we ask people to be patient and not overcrowd the popular park on hot summer days.”

“We are gradually reopening City facilities taking into consideration the safety and wellbeing of staff and community members,” says Chief Administrative Officer Mark Roberts. “Signage will be posted at the spray park with updated safety guidelines.”

In May, the City announced that the Harris Road Outdoor Pool will remain closed this summer due to a number of logistical and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Safety guidelines

Although using the Spray Park is low risk for exposure to COVID-19, there are things you can do to stay safe:

  • If you or your child feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19, please stay at home.
  • Physical distancing is recommended for adults: Stay two metres apart.
  • Avoid crowded play areas and minimize physical contact between kids.
  • Wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before and after playing or using the spray park.
  • Don’t share toys or equipment with other kids outside of your family.

Parents and caregivers are reminded to be prepared with hand sanitizer, drinking water, and hats, sunscreen or clothing for sun protection. Children must be supervised at all times.

COVID-19 and Reopening City Facilities

The City is working on risk assessments and reopening plans for a variety of City facilities. Sports courts and outdoor amenities reopened on May 23, and playgrounds reopened on June 1.

Information about reopening other City facilities will be shared at pittmeadows.ca/covid19.
