PITT MEADOWS, BC – The City has launched an Annual Community Service Awards Program to recognize and honour outstanding contributions and achievements of groups, organizations and individuals in Pitt Meadows.
“The new Community Service Awards Program was created to recognize our local unsung heroes who are doing extraordinary things to inspire others and enhance community well-being” said Mayor Bill Dingwall. “It is these outstanding community members who truly make us feel Pitt Meadows Proud!”
Nominate an individual, group or organization. There are six categories to choose from: Against the Odds Achievement, Business of the Year, Community Service, Community Service (Youth - 18 and under), Good Neighbour, and Spirit of Pitt Meadows Award recognizing Outstanding Resident of the Year.
The City is also recruiting members of the community to be part of the citizen-led Community Service Awards Task Force. The mandate of the Task Force is to review nomination packages; select the annual Awards recipients; inform Council of decisions; and take part in the annual Awards celebration where the winners are announced and presented with their awards.
Those interested in getting involved in the Task Force can visit pittmeadows.ca/getinvolved to complete an online application form by July 31, 2019.
Council is committed to establishing a community recognition program that is fair, equitable and transparent.
The deadline to submit a nomination is September 13, 2019. Winners will be announced and presented with their awards later this fall.
