PITT MEADOWS, BC – After more than two years of construction, the City celebrated the official opening of the new Pitt Meadows Fire Hall located on the original site at 19240 122A Ave.
“This new Fire Hall is a tangible example of Council’s commitment to investing in essential services in Pitt Meadows,” says Mayor Nicole MacDonald. “The completion of the new hall is timely due to Pitt Meadows Fire & Rescue Services transition to 24/7 coverage on June 5. Enhancements and new facilities to our Fire and Rescue Services are yet another reason to be Pitt Meadows ProudTM!”
The new 25,000 square-foot fire hall stands as a testament to the City’s commitment to enhancing fire safety and emergency response. The facility boasts a four-storey hose tower, four tandem bays, and dedicated Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to facilitate effective coordination during local emergency activations.
“This critical building has dedicated training facilities and provides a safe work environment for firefighters which will result in better retention of well-trained personnel,” says Fire Chief Mike Larsson. As well, the integrated Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will enhance communications and improve services during emergencies in our region.”
“The new fire hall and EOC was completed within the approved budget and represents a significant investment in the safety and well-being of our community,” says Chief Administrative Officer Mark Roberts. “This important enhancement will ensure that our Fire Department is equipped to respond to emergencies for decades to come.”
The grand opening on May 31 included a special hose uncoupling ceremony to symbolize the official opening of the new facility, as well as speeches from Mayor Nicole MacDonald, Fire Chief Mike Larsson, and MLA Lisa Beare. To view the ceremony, click here.
