PITT MEADOWS, BC – On Friday, Fraser Health issued an Extreme Heat Alert, with forecasted daytime highs into next week expected to be between 29 to 39 degrees.  In response, the City opened the PMFRC as a drop-in cooling centre for community members to find temporary relief from the heat. 

The PMFRC is located at 12027 Harris Road. The drop-in cooling centre will be staffed by Emergency Support Services volunteers who will provide guests with bottled water, washroom access and seating. 

The cooling centre will be open:

  • Saturday June 26 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm 
  • Sunday June 27 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Monday June 28 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Tuesday June 29 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

The City is reminding everyone to please check in on older or more vulnerable neighbours, never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle and watch for symptoms of overheating.  

If you are struggling with the heat, please come down to the PMFRC.  

Please note that COVID-19 protocols are in place. If you don’t a mask, one will be provided.
