PITT MEADOWS, BC – The City of Pitt Meadows Finance and Communications departments were recognized this week for winning the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for the City’s 2017 Annual Report. The award recognizes quality in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a municipal government and its management.
“This award is a significant achievement for staff and is reflective of their hard work,” says Mayor Bill Dingwall. “This Annual Report represents Council’s continued commitment to transparency and accountability and allows citizens to see how we are managing their tax dollars.”
This award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) which serves more than 20,000 government finance professionals in Canada and the United States.
The City’s Annual Financial Report for the year ended December 31, 2017 was judged by an impartial Canadian Review Committee to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the municipality’s financial picture and to encourage potential users and user groups to read the report.
