The Harris Road Outdoor Pool will remain closed for the 2021 season due to a number of logistical and safety concerns as a result of COVID-19. Council made the decision to keep the pool closed this season due to the following:
- The small size of the pool, which would make social distancing difficult for staff and patrons and would significantly limit capacity.
- The inability to offer swimming lessons or other programming, as a result of social distancing requirements and uncertainty of future restrictions.
- Significantly increased operating costs due to necessary cleaning and programming requirements.
The pool is typically open from July 1 to the Labour Day long weekend in September. The City intends to reopen the pool in 2022. The Harris Road Spray Park is now open until September.
