March 16, 2020 Update  - City Closes Facilities and Cancels Events, Until Further Notice, to Prevent Spread of COVID-19

Effective Tuesday March 17, 2020, the City of Pitt Meadows is closing: City Hall, Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL), Heritage Hall, Pitt Meadows Art Gallery (PMAG), Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre (PMFRC), Pitt Meadows Arena, Pitt Meadows Museum and Hoffmann Garage, South Bonson Community Centre (SBCC) and all sports fields to organized groups. The City has also cancelled the Easter, Earth Day as well as all public engagement events as part of proactive measures to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Following direction from BC’s Chief Medical Health Officer to avoid any public gatherings of more than 50 people, the City has made the difficult to decision to close City facilities, and to cancel events and field bookings for organized groups. The intention of these closures and cancellations are to ensure the safety of residents by limiting gatherings where physical distancing can’t be controlled.

At this time, we are cancelling all field bookings for organized groups until the end of March.  Starting in April, field bookings will continue to be cancelled on a weekly basis if necessary.  A credit will automatically be processed to customer accounts which can be used towards future bookings, or a refund cheque can be requested.  Please be advised that refund cheque requests may take longer than normal to process.  If you would like to cancel your field booking contract, please email bookings@pittmeadows.ca.  As staff may be working remotely, all communication including questions and requests must be sent by email to bookings@pittmeadows.caUnfortunately, we are unable to reschedule bookings at this time.

Currently the City’s parks remain open and the cleaning of park washrooms is being enhanced.  Residents are encouraged to spend time in outdoor spaces, and to use park equipment with discretion.

For updates, follow the City’s social media channels, the City’s website www.pittmeadows.ca and www.pittmeadows.ca/covid19.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to serve our community in such a challenging time.
