September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as well as Orange Shirt Day, a time to honour the children who never returned home, residential school Survivors, and their families and communities. In the lead-up to this important day, join us on Wednesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. in šxʷhék̓ʷnəs (Spirit Square) for a tree wrapping event, where participants will wrap trees in orange. This display is designed to spark meaningful conversations about Truth and Reconciliation and promote the community gathering at Maple Ridge’s Memorial Peace Park on Sunday, September 27, hosted by q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation and PLEA Community Services, with the City as a proud sponsor.
