In 2008, my husband and I spent a few days of Spring Break in a condo on the beach in Birch Bay. As we were walking along the beach, I saw the waves come in over the rocks in the sand. The bubbles made such a pretty pattern and I snapped several photos. I picked the best photo and painted the picture on canvas, adding a sand dollar.

Jackie was born in the city of Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, the youngest

of 11 children, and grew up in Vancouver, BC. She enjoys painting a variety

of subjects, including cityscapes of local places and cities that she has

visited, and landscapes that include an interesting solid structure such

as boats and bridges.

She began painting in 2010 after she retired from her position as Administrative

Assistant at Maple Ridge Christian School where she had been working

for more than 20 years.  She lives in Maple Ridge with her husband and

they have two married children and six grandchildren. Besides spending

time with her family, friends, and painting, she also creates jewellery and

enjoys bicycling and kayaking.

Jackie is an Active Member of the Canadian Federation of Artists, as well

as a member of the Garibaldi Art Club in Maple Ridge.

Her paintings have been shown at the Federation of Canadian Artists

Juried Shows (including the gallery at Granville Island), the Garibaldi Art

Club Juried Spring Shows, the Garibaldi Art Club Fall Show & Sales, local

MLA offices, the Passagio at the ACT, Swan-E-Set Golf and Country Club,

the Maple Ridge Public Library, and local businesses. She has been

awarded several Honourable Mentions and a Second Place in juried shows.
