I have worked as an artist most of my life. I am an honours graduate
from the Alberta University of the Arts in 1987. I tried to keep up a double
major in painting and glass, but glass won. For 18 years I worked in glass
and also as an instructor in the glass department at the University for
four years.
I then when into the film industry and have been in many disciplines there
as well. 24 years worth. I guess as artists we bore easily and continuously
look for new ways.
The common thread for my work both in paint and when I was a glass
artist was about contrast. Juxtapositions in all its forms
The contrast was never just about the lights and darks. It was about the delicate
and rigid, the transparency and solids. Almost always the images are about
“Urbiculture” miniature Urban landscapes if you will. Contrasts of color and form,
The light within my painting feel similar for mean in glass as it grabs the
light and holds it fast.
Each piece has a personality of its own in some small moment of time.
