The next Municipal Election will be held on October 20, 2018

City of Pitt Meadows voters will elect:

  • One Mayor and six (6) Councillors for Pitt Meadows City Council
  • Two (2) School Trustees for School District No. 42

General Voting Day: Saturday, October 20, 2018      8:00am - 8:00pm

Qualified electors may vote at either of the following polling locations on Election Day:

  • Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre – 12027 Harris Road
    (located behind the Pitt Meadows City Hall)

OR

  • Pitt Meadows Heritage Hall – 12460 Harris Road
    (located in Harris Road Park)

Ways to Vote

Advance Polls – Oct 1, 3, 10, 12; from 8:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Mail Ballot Voting – Available to anyone who cannot attend other voting opportunities due to physical disabilities and/or is not available during Advance Polls and General Election Day. To take advantage of Mail Ballot Voting, voters must register in person, by phone or by third party pre-registration.  If the voter pre-registers in person during regular city hall business hours, the ballot will be provided to them immediately and they can opt to mail in or vote on the spot and provide to staff for counting on Election Day.

Curb-side Voting – Voters who can get to the voting place but are unable to come inside the voting place can request election staff come to the curbside to allow the voter to vote.

Hospital Voting – Voters who are patients of Ridge Meadows Hospital may call election staff by 11:00 a.m. on Election Day and a mobile poll will attend the hospital to attend to your voting needs (Please note, this is for hospital residents/staff who are eligible voters only).

Wesbrooke Retirement Home – A mobile poll will attend the seniors care facility on Election Day for seniors who are residents to vote.  (Please note this is for eligible voters who are residents at this seniors’ care facility only, not for general voting.)

Key Dates

Requirements to vote or be a candidate

To vote or run in the election, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older on general voting day
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have lived in BC for at least 6 months immediately before election day or the day nomination papers are filed
  • Voters must be a resident of Pitt Meadows for at least 30 days immediately before voting (not applicable to candidates)
  • Not be disqualified by law from voting, or from being nominated, elected, or holding office

 You may also be eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector if you:

  • Are eligible to vote as a resident elector in another municipality, regional district or school district; and
  • Own property in the City of Pitt Meadows for 30 days or more before you register to vote.
