PITT MEADOWS, BC – The public is invited to virtually attend the Engagement and Priorities Committee (EPC) meeting on July 28 at 7p.m. to learn more and provide feedback on the Kennedy Road Overpass.

“I encourage all Pitt Meadows citizens to participate in these public engagement opportunities,” says Mayor Bill Dingwall. “The community’s feedback is essential to ensuring the best possible project for our community that we can be proud of for many years.”

The draft design includes two lanes for traffic as well as a cycling and pedestrian multi-use path. In addition, considerations have been given to safety features, wildlife movement, flood mitigation, public space improvements and landscaping.

During the EPC meeting, participants can engage with Council and the project team who will present and answer questions live from the community.

Participants will also be asked what remote engagement opportunities they would like to see for the second part related to the Harris Road underpass that respects distancing measures as a result of COVID-19 while ensuring the community can participate meaningfully.

In the fall, engagement and information on the draft designs for the Harris Road underpass, heritage buildings, noise mitigation options, and new rail track location will occur.

“There are many ways for the community to provide feedback including: online, phone, email or mail” says Chief Administrate Officer Mark Roberts. “They can also participate live in the EPC meeting.”

Ways to participate:

  1. Tune in to watch the EPC Meeting Live!
  2. Register to participate Live using Zoom Webinar.
  3. Join the conversation Live by Phone (audio only).
  4. Submit written comments to Council to questionsandcomments@pittmeadows.ca.

About the project

The goal of the project is to mitigate impacts of growing rail and port trade traffic on Pitt Meadows and to improve safety and access in the community with more reliable travel times and better emergency response.

The project includes:

  • A new four-lane underpass beneath the rail crossing at Harris Road;
  • A new two-lane overpass above the rail crossing at Kennedy Road which will serve CP’s Vancouver Intermodal Facility; and
  • An extension of one of CP’s existing rail tracks, which serves the intermodal facility.

The first phase of public engagement was completed fall 2019. For more information, visit portvancouver.com/pittmeadowsengagement.
