Candidate Information

Nomination papers will be accepted from 9 a.m. on September 1, 2026 until precisely 4 p.m. on September 11, 2026. Nomination packages for the Municipal Candidates and School Trustees will be available for pick up at City Hall (12007 Harris Road) during regular business hours beginning July 6, 2026, or may be downloaded here once available.

Scheduling an appointment with the Chief Election Officer to submit your nomination package is the best way to ensure adequate time is reserved to go through the paperwork and confirm all documentation is in order. Mandatory forms must be fully completed and submitted before the deadline of 4:00 p.m. on September 11th, 2026, or the person nominated is automatically withdrawn from being a candidate in the election.

The Chief Election Officer will post a public declaration of all municipal and school trustee candidates shortly after the close of Nomination Period on September 11th.

*NOTE: All candidates in local elections must abide by the campaign financing and election advertising rules under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act (LECFA), which include campaign period expense limits, contribution limits, election advertising rules and disclosure rules. Elector organizations (also known as local political parties) promote candidates in local elections. Anyone can form an elector organization, but only elector organizations registered with Elections BC can endorse candidates, receive campaign contributions and incur election expenses.

The ballot name for a registered elector organization, as provided to Elections BC, will appear on the ballot next to their endorsed candidate.

All elector organizations must abide by the campaign financing and election advertising rules in the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. This includes expense limits, contribution limits, election advertising rules and financial reporting rules.
