Driving over the Golden Ears bridge in late Autumn I glimpsed the beauty of the landscape below - the Fraser River flanked by masses of golden trees. Before gusty winds carried leaves away, I walked along the riverbank in Pitt Meadows and was rewarded by a tugboat rumbling upstream amidst a golden backdrop, another workboat for my ongoing series of marine paintings. |
Growing up in New Zealand gave Isabel the opportunity to appreciate
the natural beauty of coastal and rural locations, themes that would later
dominate in her waterscape and landscape paintings. In her work,
Isabel strives to portray the interplay between structural manmade shapes,
such as boats and barns, with the more organic forms of our environment.
Working with a limited palette, Isabel works primarily in acrylics, preferring
to paint in a series to better understand her subject matter. Recently
Isabel has painted scenes within our province, including many marine
paintings in her ongoing series of workboats.
Isabel recently achieved Associate Signature Membership in the
Federation of Canadian Artists. She is also a member of the Fraser
Valley FCA Chapter and the Garibaldi Art Club. Her work can be seen
at the Maple Ridge ACT Gift Shop and in exhibitions in the Lower Mainland.
