| One day I learned from a local artist that Mission was celebrating Heritage day. So I took a camera and went to the Mission Friendship Centre where they held a festival. I took some photos of the dancers, but because it was dimly lit inside I decided to combine some of the photos I took and I placed the dancer on the outside of the centre, in the arrangement I painted. |
After immigrating to Canada from Poland (a communist and poor country
at the time) in 1974, I started working and learning English. I went to
college and then continued on to UBC to study accounting.
In 2003, I took my first watercolour workshop from a local artist named
Sandor.
Due to an accident I was unable to continue my artistic journey at that
time, but it pushed me to expand my interest in art through books from
the library.
Eventually I started practicing every day after work, and shortly after I
joined the Graphic Guild group through one of my friends. After that, I
joined a watercolour group and a Mission art group.
In 2011, I was accepted into The Fraser Valley Chapter of the FCA and
at that same time suffered a stroke.
I finally started recovering 2 years ago and with God's help I hope that
I will be granted more time to finish some paintings that I started and to
make new ones.
