Local Artist, Tara Rhodes, was commissioned by the City of Maple Ridge to design and paint a mural on the public washrooms, which face the spray park at Harris Road Park. The original mural of a dog in a parachute, rainbow and hot air balloon was unfortunately badly damaged. This gave the local artist, Tara Rhodes, an opportunity to ‘fix’ the mural, however, she opted to design her own. After many sketches, it came down to two final designs; one consisted of families playing in the park and the other an ‘under the sea’ theme. The ‘underwater the sea’ theme was the chosen favorite and it tied in well with the existing spray park and nearby pool. Over the years, Tara Rhodes has enjoyed seeing the many people (especially the little ones) stop to admire her work. The orange octopus is the overall favorite!
