Summer Heat and Air Quality: Be Prepared and Stay Safe

June 10, 2026 - As temperatures rise through the summer, the City of Pitt Meadows is reminding residents to plan ahead, stay informed and take steps to protect themselves and others during hot weather. In B.C., heat can range from short periods of above-seasonal temperatures to Heat Warnings and Extreme Heat Emergencies. Planning ahead can help reduce health risks, especially for people who are more vulnerable to heat.

There are currently no heat or air quality advisories in effect.

  • Metro Vancouver for regional air quality information and advisories

  • Residents are also encouraged to sign up for local emergency notifications through Voyent Alert, the City's official emergency and community notification system.

To prepare for hot weather and poor air quality:

  • Drink water regularly
  • Keep your home as cool as possible
  • Identify air-conditioned or shaded places you can go
  • Check on neighbours, friends and family who may be more vulnerable to heat or poor air quality
  • If air quality is low, limit outdoor activity and keep windows and doors closed when possible
  • If someone is experiencing signs of heat stroke, call 911 right away.
