September 24, 2026 — City of Pitt Meadows flags will remain at half-mast from Friday, September 25 until the morning of Thursday, October 1, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30.
Flags will first be lowered on September 25 in advance of Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day and will remain at half-mast following the memorial day to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
