CPKC Labour Dispute Impacts Ended

Update August 26, 2024 - As of August 24, 2024, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) said it will restart railway operations in Canada by 9:01 p.m. PDT on Sunday, August 25, following the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) order requiring CPKC to resume operations and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) employees to resume their duties. 

VIF Access Update: Truck traffic access to the Vancouver Intermodal Facility (VIF)—located off Kennedy Road in Pitt Meadows—is no longer suspended.

West Coast Express will resume its normal schedule this week, starting Monday, August 26,


Update August 22, 2024 - West Coast Express service is suspended due to an ongoing nationwide labour dispute at CPKC. Other travel options are available, including supplemental bus service. Please check translink.ca/stayinformed for more information.


August 21, 2024 – On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) staff may begin picketing at the Vancouver Intermodal Facility (VIF), which is located off Kennedy Road in Pitt Meadows, as part of an ongoing job action dispute.

Community safety is the City’s number one priority. Should job action occur, the City will suspend VIF access from Lougheed Highway, beginning Thursday, August 22, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. until further notice. Local traffic will continue to be permitted southbound from the Lougheed Highway and Kennedy Road. Truck traffic access to VIF will be provided from Airport Way and Ford Road. See map below:

The City will implement this detour to ensure that truck congestion does not back up onto the Lougheed Highway.

The City will contract traffic management crews to implement this partial road closure during the job action at VIF.
