Updated October 2, 2026 - The fall agricultural burning season is now open until November 30, 2026. Open burning now requires both a City burning permit and open burning approval through Metro Vancouver. Apply for a burning permit
- Step 1: Apply for a City burning permit
- Step 2: Register for open burning approval through Metro Vancouver
- Step 3: Check the ventilation index, for zone 3, as available by 8:30 a.m. daily, to find out if you can start or continue an open burn by:
- Visiting Metro Vancouver’s Ventilation Index webpage, or
- Calling 604-436-6777 and selecting zone 3.
As a reminder to residents, open wood burning and campfires are not permitted at anytime, anywhere in urban areas in Pitt Meadows (per Bylaw No.2688). This includes outdoor fireplaces and cooking pits. Propane and natural gas are permitted.
