The City will lower its flags to half-mast from the evening of Friday, December 5 until the morning of Monday, December 8, 2026, in recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Observed annually on December 6, this day marks the anniversary of the 1989 murders of 14 women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. We remember the victims while also reflecting on the women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals for whom gender-based violence continues to be a daily reality.
