March 21, 2022 Update - City Suspends Truck Access to Kennedy Road Southbound from the Lougheed HighwayMarch 21, 2022 - City Suspends Truck Access to Kennedy Road Southbound from the Lougheed Highway
Due to the CP labour dispute, truck access to the Vancouver Intermodal Facility (VIF) southbound on Kennedy Road from the Lougheed Highway has been suspended from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until further notice. Local traffic is still permitted in the area and traffic flow is being managed by the on-site traffic control crew. Signage and digital messaging boards have been posted in multiple locations.
Trucks accessing VIF will be detoured along Lougheed Hwy and Golden Ears Way to the City’s other truck route on Airport Way to Ford Road/Ford Road Detour. Trucks leaving VIF will still be permitted to exit towards Lougheed Highway. Periodically, a line of trucks of varying length will form in the northbound direction on Kennedy Road, south of the VIF entrance; however, single-lane alternating traffic will be permitted for local traffic to bypass the line of trucks. Please use caution when driving in the area.
The City has been in contact with MOTI, TransLink, Maple Ridge, CP and the RCMP. Periodic monitoring/patrolling of the area is being completed by the RCMP and the City’s Bylaw department. This detour is in place to ensure the truck congestion does not back up on to Lougheed Highway and we will continue to monitor the situation.
