October 2, 2019 - There has been a report of an aggressive black bear on the trails between Pitt Lake and Rannie Road (near Pitt-Addington Marsh /Pitt Polder Ecological Reserve).

Bear safety tips:

  • Travel in groups of two or more and keep talking. Bears recognize the human voice and will avoid you in most instances.
  • If you encounter a bear, do not yell, scream, or run as this may trigger an attack. If the bear sees you, speak in a low loud voice to let the bear know that you are a human and move away slowly.
  • Carry bear spray with you and keep it ready if needed.
  • Keep dogs on a leash and children close by.

Report all sighting to B.C. Conservation Officers : 1-877-952-7272. For more information about what to do if you see a bear, visit wildsafebc.com/black-bear
