Current Developments

The Golden Ears Business Park (GEBP) is located in Pitt Meadows, west of the Golden Ears Bridge and east of the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport. Consisting of four project phases, the business park encompasses 76.5 hectares (189 acres) of land and is zoned as light industrial and includes retail, office and warehouse spaces. Work has commenced on the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation and BC Housing Affordable Housing Project, located on Salish Road. The project will support Katzie youth, elders, and those at risk of homelessness. Through the EPTA Development Corporation, q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation began development of the Eagle Meadows Logistics Park in April 2023, located at the northeast corner of Bonson Road and Wharf Street within Katzie First Nation Reserve No 1. When complete, the Eagle Meadows Logistics Park will be comprised of two light industrial buildings with access from Bonson Road and Wharf Street. q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation Rights and Title

All development on Katzie Reserve No. 1 is under the jurisdiction of q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation, the sole approving authority. To find out more about Katzie’s inherent right to self-government and self-determination visit katzie.ca/governance.

The City of Pitt Meadows recognizes Katzie’s inherent right to self-determination. The City respects Katzie’s right to pursue economic development opportunities through the development of their lands. The City is committed to progressing roadway, sanitary, fire services, storm and water systems agreements to facilitate the development of Eagle Meadows Logistics Park.

Secondary Access

Since 2019,  Katzie and the City have jointly advocated for the Province of British Columbia, TransLink, the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, and the City of Maple Ridge to advance a secondary access to Katzie lands, creating an additional route to Bonson Road. TransLink has been progressing a secondary access study and a larger Golden Ears Way Corridor Study (GEWCS), which includes development of Katzie IR-1 lands and access accommodations. More information and consultation on those items are anticipated in the coming months. The City and Katzie will continue these efforts to help build for the long-term future of all communities.
