Watering Regulations

Stage 1 watering regulations in effect.

Metro Vancouver has returned to Stage 1 water restrictions as of Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Under Stage 1, residential and non-residential lawn watering is permitted one morning per week, based on property address and type.

Stage 1 restrictions will remain in effect until October 15, 2026. Reservoir levels are currently within the typical range for this time of year; however, residents and businesses are encouraged to continue using drinking water wisely.

Water restrictions are part of Metro Vancouver’s Drinking Water Conservation Plan, a regional policy developed with member jurisdictions and other partners to manage the outdoor use of drinking water during periods of high demand, as well as during water shortages and emergencies. Stage 1 Residential Lawn Watering

• Even-numbered addresses: Saturdays
  • Automatic watering: 5:00–7:00 a.m.
  • Manual watering: 6:00–9:00 a.m.
• Odd-numbered addresses: Sundays
  • Automatic watering: 5:00–7:00 a.m.
  • Manual watering: 6:00–9:00 a.m.

Stage 1 Non-Residential Lawn Watering

• Even-numbered addresses: Mondays
  • Automatic watering: 4:00–6:00 a.m.
  • Manual watering: 6:00–9:00 a.m.
• Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesdays
  • Automatic watering: 4:00–6:00 a.m.
  • Manual watering: 6:00–9:00 a.m.

Other Stage 1 Restrictions

• Trees, shrubs and flowers can be watered by hand, with drip irrigation or using a soaker hose at any time.
• Trees, shrubs and flowers can be watered with a sprinkler any day between 5:00–9:00 a.m. for residential properties, and 4:00–9:00 a.m. for non-residential properties.
• Vegetable gardens and other edible plants can be watered at any time.
• Impermeable surfaces, such as driveways, sidewalks and patios, may be washed without restriction.
• Aesthetic water features, such as fountains, may be filled or topped up.
• Cars and other vehicles may be washed without restriction.

Lawn Watering Exemption Permits

Reporting Watering Infractions

Failure to comply with watering regulations may result in fines being issued. To report an infraction of watering restrictions, please fill out the form on pittmeadows.ca/reportaproblem, email bylaw@pittmeadows.ca, or phone 604-465-2428, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
