Special Weather Statement: Strong Winds and Moderate Rain

Archived

October 24, 2025 - Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for strong winds and moderate rain in effect for northeast Metro Vancouver, including Pitt Meadows.

When: Today (Friday, October 24, 2025)

Hazards:

  • Power outages are possible from tree damage due to strong winds.
  • Travel may become difficult due to water pooling on roads, poor traction due to fallen leaves and reduced visibility in heavy rain.
  • Localized flooding may occur as strong winds scatter leaves and cause water buildup due to blocked drains.
  • Watch for rapidly rising river and stream levels (note: a High Streamflow Advisory is currently in effect for our area, see notice).

Reminders/tips:

  • Stay safe: look for downed power lines and keep a safe distance. Please report power outages directly to BC Hydro at bchydro.com/outages.
  • Keep calm and patient in the event of a power outage: there are likely multiple houses needing help.
  • Help clear storm drains of leaves and debris to prevent flooding and allow proper drainage.
  • Please report issues or problem areas at pittmeadows.ca/reportaproblem or call 604-465-2434.
  • Property owners are responsible for removing trees or branches on their own property. Don’t forget, small pieces of tree debris can go in your green bin if they aren’t too heavy.
