PITT MEADOWS, B.C. – The City of Pitt Meadows is proud to announce a new network of publicly accessible bike repair stations installed across the community with sponsorship support from Amazon, which contributed $35,000 toward the initiative. The announcement coincides with Go By Bike Week, also known as Bike to Work Week (May 30 to June 5, 2026).

“Improving active transportation infrastructure supports Council’s priorities for connected, healthy and sustainable communities,” says Nicole MacDonald. “These bike repair stations are a valuable addition to our growing trail and cycling network, and projects like this help reinforce Pitt Meadows’ reputation as Canada’s most livable small city. Amazon’s support reflects a shared commitment to community well-being and sustainable transportation, and we appreciate their continued partnership and investment in Pitt Meadows.”

The City is committed to supporting active transportation and creating a community where walking, cycling and other modes of travel are safe, convenient and accessible for all residents. These self-serve bike repair stations provide residents and visitors with access to basic tools needed for on-the-go repairs. Each station will include tools for maintaining and repairing bicycles, as well as scooters, e-scooters and strollers, helping users stay mobile while commuting, recreating or travelling along city routes.

The five bike repair stations are located at:

  • Shoreline Park along the Pitt River Regional Greenway
  • Pitt Meadows Athletic Park
  • Civic Centre
  • Harris Road Park
  • Menzies Park

“This project supports several of the City’s long-term planning initiatives, including the Climate Action Strategy, Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, Active Transportation Plan and Complete Communities Assessment,” says Mark Roberts, Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Pitt Meadows. “By making cycling and other low-impact transportation options more convenient and accessible, the City is helping reduce reliance on cars, lower greenhouse gas emissions and encourage healthy, sustainable travel choices. Public bike repair stations also support safer, more accessible cycling by reducing barriers and helping keep people moving throughout the community.”

Amazon’s contribution funded the purchase and installation of the stations, each equipped with tools for common repairs such as fixing flat tires and adjusting brakes and derailleurs. Tools are securely mounted using stainless steel cables and tamper-resistant fasteners, making them suitable for high-use public locations.

Pitt Meadows maintains 69.5 kilometres of trails, with 77 per cent of residents using local trails daily or weekly, making the new stations a valuable addition to the City’s active transportation network.

The initiative follows the opening of Amazon’s YXX1 storage and distribution facility in Pitt Meadows last summer. YXX1 is Amazon’s first storage and distribution centre in British Columbia and forms part of the company’s broader investment in regional logistics and local employment.
