Updated July 29, 2022, 3:30pm – Cooling Centres Open During Heat Wave
The City has opened free daily drop-in cooling centres throughout the community for those looking to find relief from the heat. The cooling centres will be staffed by Emergency Support Services volunteers who will provide guests with bottled water, washroom access and seating.
The Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre, located at 12027 Harris Road, will be open:
- Monday, July 25 until 8:00 pm
- Tuesday, July 26 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Wednesday, July 27 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Thursday, July 28 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Friday, July 29 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Saturday, July 30 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Sunday, July 31 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
Other Cooling Centres in the community include:
- Pitt Meadows Library, located at 200-12099 Harris Road
- Pitt Meadows Arena, located 11435 Bonson Road
- Pitt Meadows Seniors Centre, located at 19065 119B Avenue
Pets are permitted in the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre cooling centre if they are in a carrier. Please check on vulnerable neighbours, friends, and family members several times a day, especially in the evening. Never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle, and watch for symptoms of overheating.
