September 18, 2024 - We are asking residents to help keep our community and bears safe by securing all garbage and organic waste, and removing other attractants.
The City has received reports of increased bear sightings and activity. With bears preparing for hibernation starting in November, it is especially important to reduce attractants.
Here's how you can help:
- Separate waste properly: Ensure recyclables, organics, and garbage are sorted into the correct bins.
- Secure your waste: Keep bins indoors until collection time to avoid attracting bears and other wildlife. Only set out your garbage/green carts on collection day between 5:30-7:00 a.m. (as close to 7:00 a.m. as possible) on collection day.

Please keep children close by and dogs on leash at all time. Report bear sighting's to Conservation: 1-877-952-7277. For more information: wildsafebc.com/black-bear.
