Monday, April 28, 2025 – The City has lowered its flags to half-mast to honour the victims of the tragic event at the Lapu Lapu Day festival and to recognize the National Day of Mourning (Monday, April 28, 2025). Each year, communities come together to honour workers who have lost their lives or been injured on the job. The City and our community commend and thank all first responders and workers who provided critical support this past weekend, during the devastating incident. Flags will remain lowered until further notice.
This national day is dedicated to remembering workers who have lost their lives or been injured on the job, and to renewing our shared commitment to safer, healthier workplaces across the country.
