November 30 – Storm Update

Archived

November 30, 2021 - The third atmospheric river in just under a week will once again produce heavy rain through to Wednesday.

City crews are ready and prepared. Sand and sandbags are available, if needed, at the corner of Harris Road Park and 124 Avenue.

Water levels are high but there is little risk of flood expected. City crews are continuing to perform regular checks and maintenance on the City’s dikes and other infrastructure. The Alouette and Fraser rivers are currently at good levels and holding. All pumps are running and removing water from the drainage system.

Pitt Meadows has an active High Streamflow Advisory. Use caution near rivers, especially with children and pets as rising freezing levels and snowmelt may contribute to increased runoff and water levels can rise rapidly.

Even though there currently aren’t any closures related to flooding, heavy downpours can cause water pooling on roads and localized flooding in low-lying areas. Please drive with caution as conditions can change quickly.

Any updates will be communicated to the public on the City website and social media channels. More information about how the City is prepared is available: pittmeadows.ca/floodprepupdate.
