April 28, 2025 - Regional stage 1 lawn and garden watering restrictions are in effect from May 1 to October 31. Lawn watering is limited to one morning per week for both residential and non-residential addresses in order to better conserve the region's drinking water during the warmer, dryer months.
Starting May 1, residents and businesses can only water lawns on specific days and times:
Residential Watering
Lawn Watering
Even-numbered addresses: Saturday mornings
- Automatic watering*: 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
- Manual watering*: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Odd-numbered addresses: Sunday mornings
- Automatic watering*: 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
- Manual watering*: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Other Greenery and Gardens
- Watering trees, shrubs, and flowers is permitted any day from 5am to 9am if using a sprinkler, or any time if hand watering or using drip irrigation. All hoses must have an automatic shut-off device.
- Edible plants are exempt from regulations.
- Water restrictions do not apply to the use of rainwater, grey water or any forms of recycled water.

- Manual watering*: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Water restrictions are part of Metro Vancouver’s Drinking Water Conservation Plan, a regional policy developed with member jurisdictions and other stakeholders to manage the outdoor use of drinking water during periods of high demand, as well as during water shortages and emergencies.
