January 12, 2026 9 a.m. - An atmospheric river continues to impact the south coast of British Columbia, bringing a prolonged period of heavy rain to the region. City crews are actively monitoring drainage systems, river levels, dikes and pump stations. This notice will be updated as conditions change.
Current Advisories:
- A Yellow Rainfall Warning has been issued for Pitt Meadows by Environment Canada. A yellow alert means impacts may be hazardous but are expected to be moderate, localized, and/or short-term. A long episode of rain, at times heavy, is expected from now through tonight, with rainfall totals of 75 to 150 mm across Metro Vancouver regions.
- A Flood Watch has been issued by the B.C. River Forecast Centre for Metro Vancouver, including Pitt Meadows. A Flood Watch means river levels are rising and will approach or may exceed bankfull, and flooding of areas adjacent to affected rivers may occur.
How Residents Can Prepare
- Clear leaves and debris from gutters and catch basins near your home.
- Be aware that water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flooded areas.
- Stay away from rivers, creeks, fast-moving wate, and unstable banks. Keep children close and pets on leash near water and trails.
- Report downed trees, debris, or blocked storm drains at pittmeadows.ca/report.
