Snowfall Warning Details:

Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected.

Where: Metro Vancouver.

When: Tonight (Saturday) through Monday morning.

A wintry mix of weather conditions is expected to impact the South Coast of B.C. (including Pitt Meadows) through Monday morning. A period of heavy snowfall is expected tonight and Sunday morning. Accumulations will vary widely across the region, ranging from 10 to 20 cm. The highest amounts will likely occur over higher terrain, but other areas may see locally intense flurries giving reduced visibility and heavy snow accumulation. Precipitation will taper off to wet flurries or showers Sunday afternoon. Another round of heavy snow may develop Sunday night into Monday morning.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Special Weather Statement Details:

This weekend:

Heavy flurries and cold temperatures are expected this weekend as arctic air invades the region and an upper low brings the moisture. Be advised for sudden reduction in visibility in convective flurries if travelling around the South Coast. Accumulations are uncertain at this time as it will depend where the flurries develop but accumulating snow is likely in many areas this weekend. Snowfall warnings have been issued for regions with heavier snowfall.

Next week:

Very cold and dry air is expected over the South Coast with outflow conditions from an arctic ridge of high pressure settling over the region. Temperatures will be 5 to 8 degrees Celsius below seasonal. Blowing snow is possible through the Fraser Valley with recent snowfall. Strong outflow winds will result in cold wind chills.

January 30, 2025 - Environment Canada has issued two weather alerts that may impact Pitt Meadows:

  • Rainfall warning (Thursday afternoon to late Friday)
  • Special weather statement for wintry conditions (Thursday afternoon and into next week).

A wintry mix of weather conditions are expected to impact the South Coast of B.C. (including Pitt Meadows) for the next several days. A low pressure system is making its way towards the B.C. coast with steady precipitation beginning Thursday afternoon. Due to initially low freezing levels, wet snow is likely over higher elevations. Friday, temperatures are expected to rise and most areas will see just rain throughout the day. Friday night and through the weekend, temperatures will fall as cold arctic air begins to invade the region and mix with the Pacific moisture. Amounts are uncertain at this time but accumulating snow is likely in many areas this weekend. Warnings will be issued by Environment Canada as necessary.
