LABOURER I (Parks)
(CUPE Time-durated, Full-time) 

The City of Pitt Meadows is looking for hard-working, enthusiastic individuals to perform seasonal work in our Parks department. This position performs basic routine work to maintain our public spaces and trails. Duties include weeding, planting, grass cutting, litter collection, and various other tasks based on operational needs. If you’re passionate about creating beautiful, welcoming and safe natural spaces in our community, then this may be the opportunity for you!

Regular working hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm, with an expected 40-hour workweek. However, participation in our Earned Day Off program may be considered. Please note that these are time-durated positions with a contract of approximately 8 weeks, with possible extension.

*These positions are partially funded by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs 2026 Program, which stipulates that successful applicants must be between the ages of 15 to 30 years old and available to work full-time hours at the start date. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent experience or training.

  • Experience in a municipal environment will be considered an asset.

  • Experience operating a variety of small equipment and hand tools.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to effectively and safely perform manual labour outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

  • CUPE Wage Rate - $32.79 per hour (2024 rates) + 12% in lieu of benefits and general vacation pay.
