CHILD & YOUTH WORKER (Summer Jobs Program)

The City of Pitt Meadows is hiring up to two Child and Youth Workers to support a variety of children’s recreation programs in our community over the summer months. These positions are responsible for providing assistance in planning, implementing and hosting a variety of recreation programs for all ages. They will also facilitate and support drop-in and sports programs, camps, afterschool programs, outdoor activities, special events, and youth centre programs. Successful applicants will have knowledge in the basics of program leadership, with experience providing instruction and supervisory for child and youth programs. 

Hours are expected to be 35-40 hours per week. You must be willing to work various shifts from Monday through Sunday, 5:45am – 10:15pm as scheduled. The term for these positions is June 22, 2026 until the end of August 2026 (exact date to be confirmed). 

*This position is partially funded by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs 2026 Program, which stipulates that all applicants must be under 30 years old and available to work full-time hours at the start date.



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work, plus related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Applicants must be under 30 years old.
  • Experience providing instruction, leadership and support for social and recreational child and youth programs will be considered an asset.
  • Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR – Level C.
  • Food Safe Certificate.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • CUPE Wage Rate - $22.78 per hour (2024 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits and general holiday pay.
                          *The City of Pitt Meadows is a Living Wage Employer, therefore the Metro Vancouver Living Wage Amount ($27.85/hr effective May 4, 2026) will be applied to this position.
