PITT MEADOWS, BC – The City of Pitt Meadows welcomes Stephan Drolet to the Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue Service as the new Deputy Chief of Operations.

“Council is thrilled that Stephan, an accomplished and progressive leader, will soon rejoin our Fire and Rescue Service,” says Mayor Nicole MacDonald. “Stephan’s extensive protective services background, which includes 20 years of fire services experience including 18 years as paid-on-call volunteer serving as platoon Captain for Pitt Meadows and 29 years of municipal, provincial and national policing, will be a tremendous asset to the City.”

Deputy Chief Drolet joins the Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue Service on July 31 from the Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue Service.

“The addition of Stephan to the leadership ranks is timely given our recent transition to 24/7 coverage on June 5,” says Chief Administrative Officer Mark Roberts. “These enhancements combined with the opening of the new Fire Hall and dedicated Emergency Operations Centre will ensure that our Fire Department is equipped to respond to emergencies for decades to come.”

Other Fire Service Enhancements

In June, the Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue Service established the first-ever career captains positions. “This is a true milestone and clear representation of the progression of our department,” says Fire Chief Mike Larsson. “Congratulations to Scott Kyle, Brent Hannah, Mark Davies, and Sean de Jersey on their well-deserved promotions to captain. As well, the first training officer position has been established and has been filled by Mark Kingston.”

The department recently welcomed eight new career firefighters: Jordan Gushta, Mark Kingston, Trevor Donald, Martin Anderson, Cam Cordoni, Jocelyn Lauzon, Alexander Ball and Natalie Melanson. This group joins Jon Coroliuc, Brody Wenaus, Jerrod Saddler, and Andrew Brown who have been promoted to acting officers.

“While most of us are asleep or busy, the Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue Service will keep our residents safe day or night,” says Mayor Nicole MacDonald. “We can all rest a little easier knowing that our Fire Services is in capable and well-trained hands.”
