Election Employment Opportunities

The City of Pitt Meadows is hiring reliable and enthusiastic Election Officials to serve at the 2026 Local Government Election taking place on Saturday, October 17. Join us and play an important role in ensuring voting runs smoothly, efficiently, and in a welcoming way for residents. 

Positions are paid $20 - $23 per hour, based on the role.

Positions Available

Greeter
Be the first impression for the elections by welcoming voters as they arrive while directing flow. This is an ideal position for people enthusiastic about customer service.

Registration Clerk
Help register new voters on the voters list by checking documentation and issuing ballots. This is an ideal position for people who enjoy using computers, attention to detail, and working directly with the public.

Ballot Clerk
Ensure voters receive the correct ballot and that voting records and handled securely. This is an ideal position for people who enjoy record-keeping and providing customer service.

Machine Attendant
Direct voters on how to correctly insert their ballot into the vote tabulator. This is an ideal position for people who enjoy basic problem solving and troubleshooting.

Relief Clerk
Support the Election Officials Team and cover various positions during lunch and break times. This is an ideal position for people who enjoy variety and adapting to new situations.



Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Attendance at a mandatory training session (either September 28 or October 1). This is a paid session.
  • Not running as a candidate, candidate representative, financial agent, or be involved in a campaign for a candidate or an issue that is subject an assent vote during the course of this election.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong communication and customer service skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Basic arithmetic and analytical skills;
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently perform repetitive work over long periods of time;
  • Ability to be an impartial and neutral;
  • Preference may be given to applicants with prior experience.
